A Family Affair

Bridesmaids

Godzilla Minus One

rawr :3

X-Men '97

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

Jet Lag: The Game (season 9)

oh to scheme and plot on a train through the swiss countryside

Dune: Part Two

we love worms. so much gorgeous imagery and sound. the monochrome gladiator battle...every time they used the VOICE......i love dramatic shadows, light, silhouettes.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

enjoying this so much—the spy shenanigans are pretty silly but if I wanted realistic spy stuff I'd just watch The Americans. Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are soooo good.

Dune

happy this is playing again in theatres, so i could watch it there and get blasted by hans zimmer music. love the worms!! i forgot how long and slow this movie is.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

perhaps, the perfect movie. i've been listening to the soundtrack a bunch lately

Killers of the Flower Moon

Watched this the way Scorsese intended: 85% in theatres, and the final 15% at home three months later due to a fire alarm.

Paprika

gorgeous. I first watched this probably more than a decade ago, on a crappy little streaming website, so it was great to see this in theatres. I forgot how magical the music is. And of course, the surreal animation.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

this was re-released in theatres so of course i had to go see it again

Jet Lag: The Game (season 8)

a lot of planes, but what can u do in america

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

another holiday classic......every trap makes me die inside tho. imagine getting hit by four bricks. and that's just how it starts

Die Hard

i now finally understand community ep 'modern warfare'

Home Alone

we had this on vhs growing up, and i don't think i've watched it in well over a decade. it still holds up, and i appreciate the adults a lot more now—his mom loves him and would do anything to get back home! old man marley misses his son but is afraid to reach out! and on the flipside, the violence makes me cringe more because it's so comically violent and they would have definitely died lmao. i still can't watch the nail scene.

Step Up

he was a punk...she did ballet......

Tokyo Godfathers

i loved how absolutely absurd and heartwarming this was. top tier christmas movie

The Boy and the Heron

beautiful. but what does it mean

the plot didn’t make much sense. visuals were gorgeous tho

Only Murders in the Building (season 2)

Office Space

Perfect Blue

surreal

Only Murders in the Building (season 1)

The Americans

on season 5

Elvis

Jet Lag: The Game (season 5)

this makes me want to visit new zealand

John Wick: Chapter 2

Shoresy (season 1)

Amsterdam

omg taylor swift... I wish I liked this, the individual pieces were there but ???

10 Things I Hate About You

cute

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

delightful and charming. one of the fight sequences was stunning

See How They Run

I liked the aesthetics and Saoirse! I committed the grave crime of multitasking while watching this, so I missed many cinnamontopography things—didn’t realize it would be such a visual treat.

Moulin Rouge!

surprised by how comedic this was! also, el tango de roxanne............... immediately after the movie I went to watch the tessa virtue/scott moir ice dance

Ratatouille

I first watched this maybe ten years ago, and I remember liking it. Rewatching it now and—everything hits harder. Criticism is easy. Great art can come from anywhere. Le Festin is perhaps the most beautiful song in the world?

The Dark Knight

I haven't actually sat down and watched this movie all the way through before. I liked Joker and Dent being villainous; I think I've oversaturated myself with action movies recently that the action itself was less interesting.

The French Dispatch

I meant to have this play in the background while I drew, but it was too irresistible to not pay attention to

Batman Begins

property damage: the movie. scarecrow was legit scary. also I can't believe this movie came out in 2005

Asteroid City

immaculate vibes

Barbie

I AM KENOUGH

Oppenheimer

need to watch again with subtitles

The Dark Knight Rises

the plot is...hmm. this was background movie watching

Mission Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part 1

good car chase. tom cruise infinity lungs continue

Leverage: Redemption

at long last, i am watching this. i'll have to say more later, but—leverage is one of my favourite shows in the world and it is such a wonderful gift to have this revival series.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

the laughing thing is tbh nightmare fuel

The White Lotus (season 1)

dang

Secret Invasion

heard it went downhill. first two eps were pretty solid tho

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

stupendous. dazzling. breathtaking. the most beautiful thing my eyeballs have ever laid upon

Barry (season 4)

ugh, going to miss this show so much.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

i cry

Rogue One

i enjoyed

Free Guy

video games!

In the Mood for Love

it is as moody and cinematic as they say. unexpectedly: loved the music

Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves

good silly fun

The French Dispatch

Extremely Wes Anderson. Enjoyed so many things: horizontal scrolling shots, the yellow sets, the softened quaint violence, the romantic music (e.g. when the song plays on the jukebox), the chef.

The Mandalorian (season 3)

Breaking Bad (season 3)

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

this is...a marvel movie. Things happened and nothing was engaging. I know CGI fatigue is a tired argument but whew I really felt it here.

Whiplash

jeepers, this was stressful. I can't say I enjoyed watching it but I liked the music.

Knives Out

still lots of fun the second time around

Pride & Prejudice

mmm dramatic speeches in the rain.

GoodFellas

Interesting. I think I would have to rewatch it to appreciate its critically acclaimed qualities. I didn't find Henry Hill terribly interesting. Tommy made me nervous every time he was on screen.

Moneyball

I didn’t know this was based on a true story until after! The drama of it all.

Last Christmas

this sure is a christmas movie

Troy

Tragedy 😔 also can't believe the quote about being beautiful and doomed is from this movie

Hotel Artemis

I liked the individual parts: the cast (Sofia Boutella! Sterling K. Brown!), mythology, and style. The overall plot was less engaging, and the dialogue was sometimes quite silly. But this is, like, my kind of movie.

Tenet

This was my second time watching, and it made a lot more sense. I wish there were more rpatz/protagonist story and less misogyny. lmao.

The Lost World

Ok, I barely paid attention to this because I was drawing at the same time. Lots of fucking around and finding out, it seemed. Bb rex!

Glass Onion

So stylish and fun. I went into this without watching the trailer or knowing anything about it, which I recommend. I think I liked the mystery of the first one more. The setting felt very timely.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

This was...interesting. I liked Namor and the introduction of the underwater world. So much of the movie was dark to the point I thought there was something wrong with the theatre screen.

Jet Lag: The Game (season 3)

truly impressive manoeuvring

She-Hulk

Fun and light-hearted

Red Notice

I watched this in the background while grinding FFXIV

Jet Lag: The Game (season 1)

Wow, a web series! The travel manoeuvring was very impressive and 4d chess moves fun.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

Really fun! I watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid but otherwise don't really know the lore, but the vibes and music were good. I liked Gamma 1 and 2.

The Sandman

Haven't read the comic; am intrigued.

Breaking Bad (season 2)

Finally watching this for the first time!

Wonder Woman 1984

This was...hmm. The plot was incredibly bad and nothing made any sense. But 80s and Chris Pine!

The Gray Man

Action is fun, plot and characters are less interesting; I would like movies to stop putting in torture scenes.

Bend It Like Beckham

Awwwww.

Ms. Marvel

Charming and super stylish.

Thor: Love and Thunder

It was…fine. Tonally weird.

Jurassic Park

Fun, as usual. Still scary!

Death on the Nile

I think I would have enjoyed this more if 1) I wasn't half paying attention the entire time; and 2) I hadn't just finished reading the superior book. I do want to go on a long idyllic cruise now though.

Murder on the Orient Express

I just finished reading the book last night, which I think kept me from fully enjoying this as its own work because I kept comparing the two. The setting was pretty and now I want to go on a long idyllic train ride.

Spy × Family

cute!!!!

Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Cool graphics; plot felt disjointed.

Barry (season 3)

Still incredible.

Top Gun

TAKE MY BREATH AWAAAAAAY

Deadpool

Fun! I now understand the X-Men references.

The Wolverine

I liked how colourful it was! Actions scenes were good. Hit every 'Hollywood movie that takes place in Japan' bingo card item.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

RYAN REYNOLDS????

Dark Phoenix

Questionable plot and writing. How many times does Magneto have a change of heart??

X-Men: Apocalypse

The villain was not interesting.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Time travel is fun.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Very funny, very emotional, very absurd, thinking about it makes me want to cry.

X-Men: First Class

I finally understand the memes!!!

X-Men: The Last Stand

Honestly surprised at all the people that died in this.

X2

X-Men

Still holds up!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Hmmm. I liked Wanda and America, but I wasn't a fan of the overall execution and writing.

Moon Knight

I liked the introspective character stuff! Less interested in big evil world-ending plot.

The Social Network

SORRY MY PRADA'S AT THE CLEANERS ALONG WITH MY HOODIE AND FUCK YOU FLIP FLOPS

The Batman

I enjoyed the plot and characters, but like everyone else, I felt this was too long. I wish we saw more Bruce.

Dune

WORM TIME. I really enjoyed this and will try and read the books now.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

this is complete nonsense. Vanessa Kirby has incredible hair.

Ocean’s Eleven

Yet Another Rewatch

Daredevil (season 2)

I remember not quite liking this season as much as season 1, and upon rewatch I like it even less. I'm not interested in big world-ending plots with mysterious organizations, and I don't enjoy the weird ninja stuff.

Crash Landing On You

Looper

I enjoyed this, but there was a scene in the first act that made me feel so viscerally uncomfortable/horrified. Time loops are fun though!

Murderville

Fun improv.

The Bourne Supremacy

Realistic spy stuff! I would enjoy this more if there was less camera shakiness.

The Bourne Identity

I appreciate the more grounded take on super spy shenanigans, as compared to Mission Impossible or Fast & Furious. I could not get behind some of the character decisions.

Hackers

How do I rate this movie? It's both a 4/4 and a 1/4. Every line of dialogue is overdramatic, both in content and delivery. The skateboarding is incredible.

The Book of Boba Fett

The execution of this was not that great. I had trouble getting attached to characters and their motivations. The Tusken Raiders story in episode 2 was a standout.

Belle

I liked the music and visuals. The plot was strangely executed. Overall, good Disney vibes.

Peacemaker

Very fun, one of my favourite intros.

Eternals

The cast is cool, but I wasn't interested in the plot, and I felt there was too much going on to get engaged with the characters.

No Time to Die

The Daniel Craig saga ends. This was okay. I wasn't into the plot but the cinematography was pretty as usual. Paloma was my favourite part of the movie.

Castle in the Sky

Surprisingly full of action. I liked the steampunk setting.

F9

‘How can this movie's stunts possibly top the stunts in #8?’ I naively thought to myself. Anyway, I have finished this whole endeavor and can now enjoy the family memes.

Charlie’s Angels (2019)

Big girlboss energy. This improves upon the original by not being horribly orientalist, but I was still not super into it.

The Fate of the Furious

Absolutely bananas. Zombie cars! A submarine whale! Hacker fights! Protecting Dom with the power of cars!

Hawkeye

Fun!

Furious 7

The ending made me sad. Family!!!

Fast & Furious 6

Thrilled to see Letty return.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Both very fun and also very emotional. I'm glad I watched the earlier movies, for better context of everything happening.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

Very bizarre. Things kept happening.

Fast 5

Crime family grows! Everything is bananas and thrilling.

Fast & Furious

Crime family!

Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift

Many things are funny about this movie.

2 Fast 2 Furious

Roman is fun!

The Fast and the Furious

I am finally watching these movies. Cars go fast.

Charlie’s Angels

This is very much a product of its time. Femme fatale tropes, weird orientalist scenes, big girl power energy.

Arcane

An amazing show. I don't know anything about League, but I really enjoyed this. The art and animation are incredible, and the characters are great.

Back to the Future Part III

Yeehaw!!! I liked the western setting and thought this was a fun end to the trilogy.

Back to the Future Part II

The time travel gets so much weirder. The retrofuturistic 2015 is cool. Every time they said the movie title I would [Leo pointing meme].

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Really enjoyed this! I wish Xialing got more time dedicated to her story.

Back to the Future

It's fun! Time travel is fun. The car is cool. The mom subplot is incredibly weird.

Knives Out

What a fun mystery!!! I really enjoyed the setting, the dialogue, and all the fun characters. Daniel Craig's accent threw me off so much when he first spoke, because I had just spent last month watching his James Bond movies.

The Suicide Squad

Ridiculous and very fun.

Tron: Legacy

Cool aesthetics and music. I didn't really follow the plot.

Baby Driver

The music makes this very fun. I liked the dramatic story and over-the-top vibes.

Spectre

Pleased to report that the woman doesn't die. I had trouble following the plot as usual. Lots of explosions. The Day of the Dead intro was beautiful.

Skyfall

Fun and pretty. I thought the villain in this one was more interesting than the previous. The treatment of female characters continues to be bad. My favourite intro so far. Also, giant lizards!

Quantum of Solace

I was not into this and I was especially not into seeing female characters get abused. My expectations for Bond movies are at rock bottom.

Daredevil (season 1)

Rewatched this with my partner, who hasn't seen it before. I loved Daredevil the first time I watched it and I'm excited to revisit it.

Casino Royale

I've never seen any of the Bond movies. The colours were beautiful and reminded me of film. The plot and characters were less interesting to me.

What If…? (season 1)

Enjoyable and fun. The art is gorgeous and probably my favourite part of the series.

Mamma Mia! The Movie

Silly and wholesome. I watched the sequel to this first a while back, so it's nice to see the whole story now.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time

I don't get Evangelion, which has to do more with me than the series. This movie was visually stunning, though I didn't follow the plot. I wish Rei could be happy and domestic for the whole movie. The fanservice was egregious and distracting.

Star Wars: Visions

Loved this. It's an anthology of short Star Wars-verse stories by different anime studios. Favourite episodes: The Village Bride (beautiful music!), The Ninth Jedi (omg), and Lop and Ocho (gorgeous art/environments).

Yesterday

It's cute and charming. I don't know anything about the Beatles, but it'd probably be enjoyable to Beatles fans. It's easy and light to watch.

The Mandalorian (season 2)

Still fun! Happy to see Fennec return. Dad vibes are stronger than ever. Seeing more Mandalorians that had different values was neat. Very cool to see Jedi.

The Mandalorian (season 1)

I'm late to the party, but now I finally understand the memes. The music was good, Mando is fun, I would die for Baby Yoda. The heist episode, which is my favourite genre, was very fun. This is the way.

Moonrise Kingdom

Charming. As expected, the aesthetics are gorgeous: lovely colour palettes, symmetrical frames, and fun music.

The Amazing Spider-Man

It's fine. I probably would have liked this more if I hadn't just watched the original trilogy, so I found myself very bored during the origin story because all the story beats were familiar.

Venom

A lot better than I was expecting, because everyone says this movie is bad. It's fun! Venom the character is fun. The plot was not very interesting. I'm glad Anne and Dan were good characters and there wasn't an annoying love triangle shoved in.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Everything happens so much. I thought having both Sandman and Venom in this made it too crowded, and found a lot of plot points silly. Emo Peter dancing down the street was very funny. Disappointed in the way MJ was written throughout this entire trilogy. Love triangles are tiring.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

I liked the identity crisis plot. Doc Ock's arms were very cool. I thought the initial fusion machine scene was overdramatic and silly, and then the following hospital scene gave me whiplash because of how violent and horrifying it was (I still have that shot with the nails stuck in my mind…ugh). The romance remains tiresome.

Spider-Man (2002)

I haven't watched this the whole way through before. It feels very much a product of its time with the weird love story and damsel in distress plot points.

Men In Black – International

I’ve never seen an MIB movie before and didn’t really get what was going on here, but I think it was also…not very good.

Mission Impossible 6 – Fallout

the absolutely bananas action scenes continue. I feel tired just watching Tom Cruise run after the bad guys with his infinite set of lungs. I was mostly excited to see Henry Cavill in this. also, the many NO U twists and 5D chess manoeuvres.

Enola Holmes

pretty fun, I was more intrigued by the missing mother plot than the viscount one, but apparently there's a sequel planned? so hopefully that will be explored more.

Mission Impossible 5 – Rogue Nation

I didn't like this one as much as the 4th movie, but it was still fun. There were lots of NO U moments and I had no idea what was going to happen. I wish I were cool enough to ride a motorcycle.

Pokemon Detective Pikachu

Watchmen

very dark and joyless. I adore the comic and I think I wouldn't have understood this movie if I hadn't read it before. The musical cues were strange and the way the flashback scene between the Comedian and Silk Spectre was shot felt incredibly uncomfortable and unnecessary. Watchmen was never great with women (idk if a product of its satirization or just the usual men writing women thing, I'm not a scholar) and I just have to look past it to enjoy the thing.

Carole & Tuesday

charming and cute, with wonderful music. I watched this with my friends but we ended up not finishing it.

Mission Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol

I haven't watched an MI movie before. Some of the tech was silly and the BMW endorsements were amusing, but it was fun and exciting.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway

I didn't really get it. But also, I just wanted to see robots fight and that wasn't the focus of this movie.

Ocean's Twelve

this is a fun movie. I did some Destiny item management while rewatching it. The plot is confusing, but Catherine Zeta-Jones is beautiful and everyone is having a good time.

Loki

Fun, and sets up exciting things for the MCU. Croki is the best.

Ocean’s Eleven

One of my favourite movies.

Black Widow

I adore Yelena. The plot is…less good.

La La Land

Oof, that epilogue.

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

I think about Lily James singing Andante Andante every week.

John Wick: Chapter 2

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

WandaVision

Revolutionary Girl Utena
