• so the thing about Spectre the organization is that it’s built up to be this huge, powerful group (mr. white’s “you are a kite dancing in a hurricane”), and there’s a creepy meeting in rome about it, and then there is no sense of this scale in the rest of the movie.
• i giggled a bit at the fun graphic of spectre’s structure overlaid on top of an octopus. i know fantasy UIs are supposed to convey information to the audience, not be actual realistic UIs, but this was too goofy. i like to think that Q edited this together in his hotel room and then animated it so he could present it, like a powerpoint.
• horny octopus tentacle energy in the intro, but i guess that’s a bond staple?
• i’ve never watched non craig-era bond movies, so i can’t say what the canonical bond is, what these movies are supposed to be, etc. etc.
• Bond Seduces Woman is i guess a core tenet. kind of eyerolly at this point but i am somewhat of an irrational hater of this trope.
• the shared “i love you” declarations were definitely eyerolly

on things i did like:

• day of the dead intro — beautiful, excellent. the tracking shot was amazing. the casual walk across the rooftops, very different vibe from if he had parkoured across
• train fight
• the snowy mountains were really pretty
