Keycaps

It’s coming along. I pixel pushed a lot of icons.

Hourly Comic Day

This is the second year in a row I didn’t really do it. It feels kind of disappointing! But I’ll let myself be.

Doomscrolling and realizing that it's February.
12am.
The despair at seeing Illustrator crash, and then digging in the fridge for snacks.
2am + 3am. I was working on my keyset at this time.

Theme

The last 10% of this theme really is turning out to be 90% of the work. I forgot how much I have to do to reach all the edge cases (that I know of), test all the weird quirks, set up all the customization options in a way that makes sense. I’m choosing to scrap some to do’s that I’ve done in the past, out of laziness and thinking does it really matter?

I mean, it probably does. To someone.

memory lane

One of the more enjoyable and distracting parts of publishing a theme is curating the sample posts to display on the demo blog. I usually go through archives and look for things that are beautiful, funny, or touching, somehow. I stay away from anything too sad or serious. I like shitposts. I try not to repeat anything across my various demos, as much as I enjoy a particular post.

I read this again, which still resonates:

For everything bad, there’s a million really exciting things. Whether it’s somebody puts out a really great book, there’s a new movie, there’s a new detective, the sky is unbelievably golden, you know, you have your best cup of coffee you ever had in your life.

Patti Smith

Many things are bad, but my coffee every morning is not. Slowly working on projects is nice. Eating a really satisfying chocolate. Getting stuff in the mail.

Destiny

I am still spending every waking moment playing Destiny, because I am a woman possessed. I’ve reached the point of being able to play competitive co-op, and I tried the most chaotic version of the PVP mode. I’ve played with some new friends. I am getting better at shooting things and not dying.

Evil, spiky red towers poking out of a cliff.
This dungeon, called the Pit of Heresy, was extremely evil.
A swinging chandelier with spikes.
Comically evil, even. I had to jump around and dodge spiky chandeliers and other evil, spiky obstacles.
