The Sandman

Status: currently watching.

I haven’t read the comic, but I’ve heard it’s very good. I’m enjoying it so far, though I don’t quite understand what’s going on a lot. But it’s all very intriguing!

Spoiler alert: Details about episodes listed below.

Episode 5 – 24/7

This episode was fucked up, and apparently it was toned down from the comic. I liked the eerie setting and how things slowly got more and more dreadful.

When the violence started though, I covered my screen and waited for my partner to tell me when it was safe to watch again (I have a very low tolerance for gore in live action stuff). The whole atmosphere was so disturbing.

I thought John Dee was going to be an antagonist for the whole season, so I was surprised when his storyline (seemingly?) ended here.

Episode 6 – The Sound of Her Wings

A cool ep! Death going around to see people off was very sad and touching. The man who wanted to tell his wife his phone passcode because it held their flight info. The newborn baby. Oof.

The storyline with the man living over centuries was really interesting too. I kept waiting for things to go wrong and for him to beg Dream for death—personally, I think immortality would be horrible, so—but it never did. His friendship with Dream was sweet. The jump from the 1800s to the 1900s was jarring.
