Stardew Valley

Perfection

August 19

After not playing for a few months, I’ve returned to start working towards perfection. As of year 6 winter, this currently involves:

  • Buying the gold clock (10mil; I’m around 7.5m. Moneymakers involve ancient fruit wine and truffle oil.)
  • Monster eradication goals (got a bunch left)
  • There are some others, but those are my focus.

I’m also working on redecorating my farm since it’s fallen into disarray.

unfortunately, having a concrete goal (perfection) has possessed me and I have thought of nothing else for the past week—I’ve spent the entirety of year 6 winter trying to finish everything, which has involved:

  • Farming money (as noted above)
  • Grinding monsters—truly a horrible process to get 50 pepper rex (I probably staircased hundreds of floors in total); a lot of mummies; a lot of skeletons and dust sprites (mostly in the dangerous mines, because I’m a masochist)
  • Grinding craftable items, which involved dragon teeth (I think it took me 3 trips to get 2 teeth, lmao, I even emptied a fish pond to throw in a stingray out of desperation)
  • Getting the last rarecrow from the casino, because apparently I had never gotten it (earned 5000 qi coins from some lucky blackjack; bought the other 5000)
  • Gifting Leo a mango every moment I can

I gave up completely on the walnuts and bought the last nine (which cost 90k), so I have contributed to the evil joja corp. The cutscene has appropriately shamed me.

As of writing, the only things I have left are:

  • 1 crafting recipe, which I need to get from Clint’s special orders quest (praying to RNG for this to show up soon)
  • Max friendship with Leo

In the meanwhile, since the crafting thing no longer requires me to grind endlessly but rather just wait, I will be decorating my farm. THEN I WILL BE FREE.

PERFECTION ACHIEVED!!!

i’m focused entirely on decorating now

Stardew farm. Most areas have floor and path tiles. It's organized into sections like animals, greenhouse, crops, and so on.

March 2025

Revisiting my first farm to finally play Ginger Island and all the post-1.4 content that I never got around to. It’s been fun to discover new things and experience all these QOL upgrades.

A busy Stardew Valley farm in the fall, featuring: a bunch of animal buildings in one corner, a slime hut and enclosure, a bunch of beehouses next to the greenhouse, some junimo hut crop sections, and a bunch of additional sheds.

October 2021

I’ve abandoned my farm, my crops, and my wife. I logged in a couple of times to run around and be confused, and win the grange display contest.

2020

I also started a new farm (my second one!) which sucked up all my attention again. It was surprisingly replayable, as I was focused on optimizing all my time and making as much money as soon as possible. I’m in year 2 winter now and am rich enough that I can chill out.

I also looked back at my first farm to compare my progress and I’m surprised by how much further I’ve progressed in my second farm, now that I know exactly what I’m doing.
