Here’s something fun I wrote about Balatro when I first tried it:

It’s fun! I like it a healthy amount, which is to say, I don’t feel inclined to hyperfocus on it and play for hours (thankfully).

That was after I had started playing it while travelling, and before I had won my first game. Up til that point, I was getting stuck around ante 5–6. What’s so addictive about this game? I had naively thought. Past me was a FOOL.

I then won my first game and figured out how to really make the numbers go stonks. I would say I am no longer chill about this game and am instead obsessed with making number go up as much as possible as well as making Jokers shiny and playing cards shiny and scoring sick combos. This game is the epitome of “you are like a little baby. watch this”

  • Photograph: First played face card gives X2 Mult when scored

Can’t wait for this 21.7 million high score to look like baby numbers in two days or something when I figure out some new and sicker combo.
